www.FreeSpeechCoalition.com FSC 2008 Bash Plans Announced Saturday, October 11 At 5:30pm The Globe Theater At Universal City, CA
From The Free Speech Coalition:
The Free Speech Coalition's annual fundraising gala will be October 11th at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios Hollywood, the adult industry trade
association announced Monday. In recognition of the presidential election to follow less than one month later, the theme for
the event is 'Election 2008 Bash.'
Although technically 'bash' in this case refers to the enormity of the party, it is not unrealistic to expect a certain amount
of administration-bashing to occur, as well.
'We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel after eight years of an oppressive administration,' said FSC Executive Director
Diane Duke. 'I know that there are no guarantees with the next administration, but we really must celebrate the end of the
Bush era.'
In addition to a meal catered by Wolfgang Puck, the event will include a brief awards ceremony honoring the FSC's woman of
the year, Rondee Kamins of Transworld News; man of the year Scott Coffman of AEBN, business of the year Sureflix Digital Distribution
and Legacy Award recipient Harry Mohney of Deja vu.
Kamins will be honored for her contributions to the battle against 18 USC §2257 and other oppressive legislation. Coffman's
award commemorates his unerring ability to bring controversial issues to the forefront of mainstream news, and Sureflix will
be celebrated for its contributions to awareness and curtailment of intellectual property piracy. Mohney will receive the
Legacy Award, which honors someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in a variety of areas the FSC addresses,
for what Duke called 'his tireless dedication to a variety of matters, but particularly to involving people in the electoral
process.'
The bash will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a red-carpet reception hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Dinner will follow
at 7 p.m. Tickets are $225 for FSC members and $250 for non-members; tables of 10 can be purchased for $2,000 and $2,250 by
members and non-members, respectively.
Event sponsorships range from $2,500 to $10,000, Duke said.
'It will be an incredible party where we will honor some of our industry's best and brightest in an atmosphere of glamour,
fun and laughter - an event worthy of this great industry and the professionals that make it successful,' she said.
