From Home Entertainment Retail Expo:
The Home Entertainment Retail Expo, the year-end marketplace for the East Coast's home entertainment industry, will take place
on September 21 and 22 at the Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Registered exhibitors will gather early on the 20th
to tour Camden Yards and to meet and greet at the show-opening cocktail party. In response to changes that the home entertainment
industry has undergone and faces, the event - formerly known as the 'East Coast Video Show' - has been redesigned and relocated
to better serve evolving needs. The Home Entertainment Retail Expo is produced by Home Entertainment Events.
Located in Atlantic City, New Jersey for many years, the Home Entertainment Retail Expo has been reformatted and its scope
increased in order to attract attendees from other markets such as convenience stores, toy stores, supermarket chains, and
mass merchant retailers who generate substantial revenues from home video sales.
'The improvements that are being made to the programming of this show reflect the growth and expansion of the industry,' said
Carrie Dieterich, spokesperson for Home Entertainment Events. 'There will be a new focus on other aspects of the industry
such as video games, music, and Spanish language programming.'
'Baltimore is an ideal destination and location for the Home Entertainment Retail Expo,' said Liz Crawford, group show director
for Home Entertainment Events. 'The city is serviced by three airports and is easily accessible via rail or car. Preliminary
attendee surveys revealed that the location is ideal to serve not only the mid-atlantic region but also the areas to the north
and south. Also, Baltimore's Inner Harbor is a great attraction and provides a terrific setting for our evening functions.'
Described as 'the year-end marketplace for the East Coast's home entertainment industry,' the Home Entertainment Retail Expo
presents the best opportunity for video retailers in the region to learn about fourth quarter DVD and video releases as well
as new trends in television, games, music, and other special interest DVDs. At the show, retailers will review the latest
accessories and services from approximately 100 exhibitors from both mainstream and adult companies. The exhibit floor will
be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
The Home Entertainment Retail Expo, the annual VSDA Home Entertainment show, and the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo are organized
through Home Entertainment Events (Home Entertainment Events), in which the Video Software Dealers Association is a partner.
Established in 1981, the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) is the not-for-profit international trade association for
the $22 billion home entertainment industry. VSDA represents more than 1,200 companies throughout the United States, Canada,
and a dozen other countries. Its members operate more than 12,500 retail outlets in the U.S. that sell and/or rent DVDs, VHS
cassettes, and console video games. Membership comprises the full spectrum of video retailers (from single-store operators
to large chains), video distributors, the home video divisions of major and independent motion picture studios, and other
related businesses that constitute and support the home video entertainment industry.
This year the show will have adult glass toy company Haze XXXperience in the P.A.W. Foundation (Protecting Adult Welfare) booth, for a special lingerie auction being hosted by XXX star Craig Valentine. Summer Haze and Flexxx Appeal will be performing at a club to be announced for the entire week during the video expo.
