Best Industry News In Review: 11.12.08

A daily review of the best original articles from various adult industry news sources - all the news you probably missed. We skip the press releases, the re-worked press releases, the news stories that look as if they’ll be worth reading but turn out instead to be press releases.

Finally, Gene Ross of AdultFYI.com gets back to work and posts something original - this time, a set of “Grand Vizier” articles with all the nasty, underhanded gossip you expect from his site. His”Grand Vizier” gimmick is the best: someone asks Gene to post something that can’t include his name, and Gene dresses it up with hookahs, apple tobacco, lunch at Jerry’s Deli, and a variety of other vaguely pre-Ataturk schtick.

The stories are Where’s the Industry Going from Here, The Grand Vizier: Problems with Ninn Worx_SR’s American Pin Up; 800,000 Pictures Are Missing, and The Grand Vizier: Notes from the Diabolic Set. The first is the usual boo-hoo about free porn and company failures; the second is about another SR screw-up; and the third is Gene hoping to rat out some performers’ on-set behavior, while at the same time revealing some personal financial information about the guy financing the set.

There are a BridgetteKerkove-load of porn parties happening this week - you’ll have to check out the Events section for the details. No need to repeat them all here.

Jenna Jameson is back in porn news: she’s going to appear on a cam website to “chat” with fans. It sounds pretty lame and tame, and XBIZ.com has a good enough story about the whole ball-o-yawn: http://www.xbiz.com/news/all/101711.

And finally, as a measure of how AVN.com and XBIZ.com are doing comparatively on stories of some interest to the adult industry, check out both magazines’ coverage of Adult Entertainment Capital’s withdrawal from the industry. It looks like XBIZ actually went to some trouble to cover the story, making phone calls, sending a couple of emails - you know, what trade magazines are expected to do to dress out a press release.

AVN: Adult Entertainment Capital Pulls Out of Porn.

XBIZ: Adult Entertainment Capital Bails Out of Adult Biz.
