HIV In A Third World Country

A couple of weeks ago, two or three industry websites tried to send the industry into a screaming panic over an HIV “outbreak” in Brazil.

How’s that story going?

Are we all dead yet?

According to same websites, a bunch of transsexual and female performers were infected in Brazil. The names of well-known Brazilian performers were thrown out for speculation (and blacklisting, including any Brazilian female performers whose names come readily to mind in the US, including of course, that of Monica Mattos); many of these performers were supposed to have shot numerous scenes in the US since they had been infected. Apparently sperm was flying all over the place and the US industry was horribly exposed, perhaps never to recover again.

The usual targets of industry homophobia were targeted (Christian of course, one of many male performers who’ve stuck it into a tranny or two), and it was decided by the publishers of these websites that it was time to shut down all porn production until they personally could give the ‘all clear’.

Whatever happened to this story? Did the websites running this publicity stunt pick up any extra traffic because of it?

Why, oh why didn’t this story spread to the mainstream, garnering more attention for the industry? Shouldn’t these websites call OSHA right now and share the line with Shelley Lubben?

Update: Turns out that Brazil’s porn industry always has HIV positive performers in its gay ranks, as the US industry does. What a surprise - HIV in a third world country. The women whose names were smeared by this campaign aren’t infected. Somebody in Brazil (one of apparently a dozen unnamed sources) must have a problem telling transsexuals and genetic women apart.
